Whaplode petrol station receives national award recognition
Whaplode Food Store and Filling Station has been shortlisted for this year’s Forecourt Trader of the Year Awards.
The Awards, a highlight of the industry calendar and the pinnacle prize of petrol retailing, will be presented with full Hollywood razzmatazz in front of around 1,000 industry leaders, suppliers and forecourt owners at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London on Thursday.
“Huge congratulations on this achievement should go to everybody who has put their knowledge and expertise into the Whaplode Food Store and Filling Station rebuild,” said Lincolnshire Co-Op commercial support manager Ian Bell.
“This nomination is recognition of the hard work that has gone into the business behind the scenes, getting the most from a very challenging site footprint and also the hard work of the store staff since it’s reopening. The retail area has been doubled, creating room for a wider customer selection of food to go, fresh and chilled items, Costa Coffee and freshly baked products.”
Each of the finalists are considered the yardstick for petrol station standards, such as appearance, facilities, cleanliness, staff interaction, friendliness, merchandising and convenience stores. Whaplode Food Store and Filling Station has been nominated in the Best Midlands Forecourt category following an intense judging process.
The Gulf-branded forecourt on Main Road was also praised by Craig Nugent, head of dealer sales for Certas Energy, the largest supplier to independent fuel retailers in Britain, including over 500 Gulf forecourts.
“We are proud of the standards our nationwide network of Gulf forecourts sets and it is just reward for Whaplode Food Store and Filling Station to have been shortlisted for this prize. The competition gets tougher every year and it is testament to the hard work that everybody associated with the site undertakes every day that it has been recognised as one of the very best in the country.”
