FOCUS ON FITNESS: Getting the gym routine going again
With us in the process of getting out of our third lockdown it’s as if in a way we are going full circle.
This has been an experience that has tested us beyond belief, has made us have to learn how to adapt but ultimately brought us closer.
I like to think that it has brought more people closer together as a community with the Wombles – who do an excellent job in picking up Spalding’s litter - proving this point.
Monday saw a lot of essential places reopening including hair/beauty, shops and gyms. I’m sure we are enjoying getting a huge level of normality back in our lives.
In regards to getting back inside the gym, I’m looking forward to being back within the positive atmosphere and environment.
And to see people that I’ve not seen in ages. People that make the gym the great community that it is.
Yes we all make ourselves accountable but in reality it was hard to achieve anything spectacular this last year!
I do also understand that a few people might feel a bit nervous or apprehensive about stepping back inside the gym.
Maybe you’ve gained a little weight or just lost some of the fitness that you had?
If so, I think the main thing to take into account is that most of us are all in the same boat. I haven’t stopped myself... however, I’m still a bit fluffier than I would like!
I also know that the first time back on that air bike is probably going to kick my bum...
Which is why I think it’s important to ease ourselves back in on our own levels. Be competitive with yourself and just see where you’re at as to where you were when the gym closed.
We are all a work in progress and once we do get back into that routine it won’t take long to get it back on track.
Let’s all look forward to more positive times ahead moving forwards and a good summer filled with fitness and fun.
