Flooding: 24 residents evacuated from Lyndis Walk sheltered housing in Holbeach after heavy rain




Residents from sheltered accommodation in Lyndis Walk in Holbeach have had to be evacuated due to flooding.

Staff from South Holland District Council are currently looking after the entire 24 residents who have been taken to Cecil Pywell Avenue Community Centre, also in Holbeach, after bungalows in Lyndis Walk were flooded.

A spokesperson for South Holland District Council said: "A pump has broken at Lyndis Walk and some of the properties were flooded. We helped to evacuate the residents and are providing support, with council staff there to help."

District council staff were assisting Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue with the evacuation, which was reported just after noon.

The district council also Tweeted: "We are waiting for @AnglianWater to attend (the) site. There was a small number of properties flooded but problems with sewage on site. If residents can't return to their properties today, we'll be making provisions to house them in the district. Thanks to @LincsFireRescue for their help."
