Arrangements are coming together well for the Queen’s 90th Birthday Picnic in the Park, which has free entry for Fleet and Gedney parishoners, their families and friends.
The event is being held on Sunday, June 19 in The Anglia Motel grounds.
The Dream Belles and Retrospekt will be entertaining with music from the 50s and 60s and lots of fun is planned for all the family to be entertained with some old time games, stalls and activities, arena events, bouncy castle, and a celebration raffle with prizes being donated by local businesses.
To celebrate the event there is to be a special VIP marquee for Fleet or Gedney parishioners aged 90 or over with a free picnic served by local children.
Children are also invited to bring along an A4-size portrait of the Queen and there will be prizes for under-eights and nine- to 15-year-olds. The portrait – drawn, painted or designed by the children – will need to have their name and age on the bottom.
A ‘Decorate a Cake fit for a Queen’s birthday’ competition will also be held and cakes should be taken to the VIP marquee on arrival at the event, which starts at 11am.
During the day children will be invited to come into the arena to play some fun games and there may also be a sack race for dads with it being Father’s Day.
All parishioners will be receiving a flier about the event in the next couple of weeks.
Put the date in your diaries as it is sure to be fun and a great way to come together to celebrate this wonderful occasion.
