John Quinton and his wife, of Queen’s Road, Spalding, had five soldier sons serving in the Army in 1915 – a sixth boy was still at school.

There was Pte Charles Quinton, of the 4th Lincs Territorials, who was serving in France.

He was followed by Sgt William Quinton, also in the 4th Lincs; Pte Edwin (pictured above left) with the RFA; Pte George Quinton, also of the 4th Lincs Territorials; and finally the fifth son, Pte Edward Quinton (above right), who also belonged to the 4th Lincs.
