Fitness and Leisure Centre at Spalding High School will close to the public for time being

Spalding High School Fitness and Leisure Centre will be closing to the public from August 25.

It is understood that the closure of the centre in Matmore Gate is due to the departure of the current manager.

A spokesperson for the school said that the intention is to advertise for a new manager in the autumn term.

Among those who have used the facilities at the High School’s fitness centre is Spalding’s walking netball group who will now be looking for a new place to train.

Louise Key, England Netball development officer for Lincolnshire, assured though that the netball will be continuing.

“We will be continuing the sessions there until the end of August and then will be looking for another venue.

“With the Netball World Cup it’s the biggest summer of netball," she said.

As well as the sessions at the centre on Weds, 6pm to 7pm, they also meet at the Castle Sports Complex on Fridays from 1.30-2.30pm.
