Festival of Archaeology at Ayscoughfee Hall and Museum uncovers the world 'beneath your feet'

Families dug deep, bricked up and weaved material magic at Ayscoughfee Hall and Museum during its annual Festival of Archaeology.

Just a week into the school summer holidays, families created medieval buildings out of cereal boxes, made monuments out of mini bricks and worked wonders with mock stained glass.

But there were opportunities for discovery as well, with talks on the theme of "What’s Beneath Your Feet" by South Holland archaeologist Dr Ian Marshman, Spalding Gentleman's Society member, Dr Michael Gilbert, and manager of Ayscoughfee, Julia Knight.
