Crowland farmer keeping history alive for the town

The first most people in Crowland knew of Daniel Abbott's fascination with the 1940s was when he turned his driveway into a celebration of VE Day on May 8.

Even the 1936 Morris 12/4 Series 3 motor car, parked right behind a jet black 1940 Austin 8, was not out of place by a garland of Union Flags, ammunition boxes and sandbags at the front of Daniel's house.

The 40-year-old farmer also made room in his back garden for a replica of an unexploded bomb, more sandbags, an air raid siren, Tommy helmet and jacket used by air raid precaution wardens during World War II.
