Holbeach area farmer appeals to girl found walking and crying close to Surfleet Marsh sheep attack to get in touch with the police

A farmer whose sheep were subjected to a vile attack is appealing to a girl who was seen walking near the field to get in contact.

Tom French was horrified to discover last weekend that two of his ewes had been deliberately run over while a third ewe had been set alight in a field in Surfleet Marsh.

Mr French has now spoken to a witness who saw two 4x4s in the area along with a young girl who was walking away and crying at 10pm on Friday last week.

He has since found CCTV footage of the girl and is appealing for her to get in contact.

Mr French said: “She obviously didn’t agree with what was happening as she would not have walked away crying.

“She is not in any trouble. The people that need to be in trouble are the ones that hit the sheep.”

Mr French is now keeping the flock at his home in Whaplode St Catherine.

They have been assessed by a vet and a total of 30 ewes have been injured as a result of this attack.

Mr French is now bedding them down in a shed for the next month to help them recover.

He said: “When we brought them in last week it was sickening.

“I would like to find whoever did this and bring them to justice.”

Mr French has also received reports of off road motorbikes using the field.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
