The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) says an employment agency is recruiting for a local factory that has 150 vacancies, and a variety of shift patterns.

The news comes as South Holland saw a slight surge in the number out of work last month, although part of that increase could be linked to February’s snowy weather that made some roads impassable.

The name of the factory involved has not been made public.

Last month, there were 660 South Holland people looking for work, up by 55 or 9 per cent on February last year.

Peter Hayes, from the DWP, believes bad weather accounted for some or all of the dip, hitting landwork and associated industries.
