A Holbeach school is well and truly blossoming as organisers of the town’s East Midlands in Bloom entry thanked pupils for their effort in the entry.

This year has seen a larger number of community members in the town get involved in the endeavour, including youngsters and teachers from Holbeach Primary Academy with their own individual entry to the competition.

Graham Rudkin, chairman of Holbeach in Bloom, said: “I would like to say thank you to everyone who helped out, as well as the teachers and children of the school.

“The judges seemed visibly impressed with what they’ve done. They spent a lot of time at the school, speaking to the shildren.”

Holbeach is aiming to secure a hat-trick by claiming a third consecutive gold in the yearly competition, with the winner announced in September.

The town was dressed up in a theme of red, white and blue. Plenty of stores got involved and were decorated, which district councillor Tracey Carter said “shows a lot of cohesion”.

“The whole town looks fabulous,” she added.
