A FORMER Holbeach parish councillor has threatened to start a civil action against a resident after she made a complaint against him.
Esmond Tearle was the first of six councillors to hand in a letter of resignation at last week’s meeting.
On Tuesday, the Lincolnshire Free Press reported that Mr Tearle was the subject of an investigation by South Holland District Council standards committee.
In a statement to the Spalding Guardian he said: “I am aware that a complaint has been made about me to the standards committee and I have responded directly to them.
“The complainant and her husband have also filed complaints relating to three other councillors, but it is not my place to comment further.
“I also can’t comment further on the complaint against me as it may result in a civil action being taken against the complainant.
“My resignation from Holbeach Parish Council was in no way connected to this matter.”
