Councillor’s plans rejected

SOUTH Holland District councillor Bryan Alcock’s plan to build a home at 81 Postland Road, Crowland, has been thrown out by his planning committee colleagues.

Coun Alcock was absent from the meeting on Wednesday night when the application was unanimously rejected on highway safety grounds.

Members heard the site is next to a road with a 50mph speed limit and there is no pavement or street lighting.

Two neighbours also objected for highways safety reasons and said the proposed bungalow would be too close to mature poplar trees on their land.
