ENERGY company Centrica must carry out careful reinstatement works after it cuts a second hole in the sea bank at Wingland for its 75-turbine wind farm in The Wash, Sutton Bridge parish councillors say.
Councillors heard further works had to be carried out after reinstatement of the first breach last year and they say the Environment Agency and Natural England should ensure both the bank and the marsh is left in tip-top condition this time around.
The company – also known as Lincolnshire Wind Farm Ltd – is cutting holes in the sea defences for gigantic cables that will eventually run under the sea bed.
Coun John Grimwood told the parish council meeting: “None of us here are experts on sea defences, but it gives me great concern that they are cutting a hole next to the hole they have already got.
“It must make the integrity of the bank that much weaker I feel.”
The council agreed to invite the company to a meeting along with representatives from the Environment Agency and Natural England.
l The company has submitted a planning application for the new cable installation.
