The chapels at Holbeach Cemetery stopped being used for services in 2008.
However, some free events taking place in Holbeach should see the chapels filled again, and it’s a chance to share ideas about the building’s future.
The first is the chapels’ participation in Heritage Open Day on Saturday, September 10 (10am to 4pm). Learn more about why the Victorians designed ‘garden cemeteries’ and follow a trail around the cemetery and chapels.
There are also special activities for children and refreshments.
There is also a cemetery trail on Saturday, October 8 (2-3pm) as part of the South Lincolnshire Walking Festival.
On Saturday, September 17 (10am to 4pm) there is an open workshop and community embroidery project at the Reading Rooms in Holbeach. That will be followed by a year-long community embroidery project that will result in three panels for the town.
On Sunday, November 6 (10am to 4pm) there is a Reminiscence Day at the Reading Rooms when people can add to ongoing research by sharing memories of loved ones buried in the cemetery.
