Spalding ball goers will be transported Back to the 80s at charity ball
Tickets are now on sale for a popular ball which will be raising money to help expand facilities for young first aiders.
St John Ambulance will be one of the charities to benefit from the Two Lips Charity Ball at Springfields Exhibition Centre on Saturday, February 8.
The Rotary Club of Spalding and Welland have once again organised the successful ball, which will include a performance by the Back to the 80s tribute band.
Volunteers at St John’s are hoping to use funding from the ball to buy new jackets for their first aiders to wear at events as well as funding a new Badger set.
For the first time in many years, children aged between seven and 10 will be able to learn about first aid at the charity’s Spalding base.
Local unite manager Pete Houldershaw said: “St John Ambulance is extremely grateful to the Rotary Club for its support, we will be using this funding to support the work of our youth programme.
- Organ appeal has hit the right note for donations
- Volunteers needed to keep area looking bloomin' marvellous
- Tammy is looking for a home after 2 years with a rescue charity
"We will be expanding the programme to enable younger children in Spalding to join us and learn to save lives."
More than 200 people enjoyed last year's ball, which raised £6,000.
This money was split between Spalding Hospice fund, the Lighthouse Foundation and Rotary charities.
Ball goers will be transported Back to the 80s with the headline band at forthcoming event in February.
The tribute band will be dressed in lively over the top 80s costumes as they perform all the great 1980s party songs.
Tracks from Madonna, Duran Duran, Cyndie Lauper and Kylie will be performed during the evening along with hits from Bananarama, Culture Club and Dexy's Midnight Runners.
A sweet cart will also be set-up at the ball and guests can also visit a photographer to record memories from the special night.
A number of fantastic prizes will be auctioned off during the evening, including afternoon tea for four at The George Hotel in Stamfordand Sunday lunch at The Woodlands in Spalding.
A major raffle and gift tree will also be taking place on the night.
Rotarian Fay Barrett said: "The ball is our major fundraiser.
"This year we are going to support the St John Ambulance as well as the Rotary charities.
"We often get requests for help from people throughout the year which we are happy to support.
"I would like to encourage people to come along for a good evening with 80s music and a good meal."
