South Holland youngsters were in competition again as Agilitas Sports School Games action resumed with the Spalding round of Quicksticks Hockey.
Twelve teams from primary schools across the district came together at Spalding Hockey Club in Surfleet where they were taken off by Sports Leaders from Spalding Grammar School to warm up and put them through their paces.
After a set of practice drills in preparation for their matches, teams of pupils then progressed through pool stages and knockout matches to determine their final places.
The standard of play was excellent from all teams, with some schools having never seen their children holding a hockey stick before.
Outstanding progress was made by the youngsters, while the Sports Leader pupils did a great job of managing the teams and umpiring the games.
Moulton John Harrox Primary School’s A Team emerged as the winners and they will now go on to play against the winning schools from the Bourne, Deepings, Holbeach and Long Sutton rounds later this month.
The finishing order was:- 12th Cowbit St Mary’s B; 11th Monkshouse A; 10th Pinchbeck East B; 9th South View (Crowland) A; 8th Cowbit St Mary’s A; 7th Ayschoughfee Hall A; 6th South View B; 5th Pinchbeck East A; 4th Monkshouse B; 3rd Moulton John Harrox B; 2nd Ayschoughfee Hall B; 1st Moulton John Harrox A
