Talks on turning all schools to academy status

Have your say

ALL schools in Lincolnshire could soon be encouraged to convert to academy status.

Councillors on Lincolnshire County Council’s executive are today (Tuesday) being asked to confirm their support for the move.

The recommendation is being put forward as the preferred option from a choice of four over how the council should lead education in the county.

The report being considered by the committee says the council would encourage schools to choose a sponsor which support its strategic priorities, including a commitment to support small and vulnerable schools.

Educational trust CfBT is the only provider which has confirmed this commitment so far.

The final decision for any school to join any trust would still rest with individual schools’ governing bodies.
