Success for Spalding High School gymnasts

Months of hard work and dedication to training has paid off for gymnasts at Spalding High School.

The Under 14 and Under 19 teams both returned to school delighted after their participation in the recent East Midlands Floor and Vault competition, held at Stamford.

A tough day saw outstanding floor routines and excellent vaults, according to a school spokesman.

She added: “With the results, the High School competitors were thrilled with the outcome.”

An “outstanding” combined score of 121.2 saw the Under 19 team gain second place, and then with another excellent combined score of 119.9, the Under 14 team won the East Midlands Floor and Vault competition.

The Under 14 team will go on to represent the county at the National Finals, to be held in May.

• Spalding High School PTA is holding a race night on Friday, March 11. Doors open 6.30pm with the first race at 7pm.

Entry is by ticket only, available from the school) costing £5 for adults, £4 for students. The ticket price includes a light ploughman’s supper.
