Pupils and staff at Long Sutton’s Peele Community College have returned from a fantastic ski trip to Austria. As well as skiing, students enjoyed tobogganing, swimming and the obligatory snowball fights.
Towards the end of the week, many had progressed onto the red and black runs and everyone felt a sense of achievement, especially those who had never skied before.
Students who won the toboggan races included Ellen Debney and Daniel Oldfield, while Daniel Goodchild and Dylan Mason won their individual slalom races. Daniel Goodchild deserves extra credit as he was skiing for the whole week with a broken toe!
Daniel Oldfield and Olivia Mathewson both added credits towards their GCSE PE grades by displaying great skiing techniques and conquering some tough slopes.
Student Beth Owen said: “I really enjoyed learning to ski properly and the challenge of the different slopes. I would definitely go again and would encourage others to try this fantastic experience.”
Fellow student Gaby Armiger added: “the hardest part I found was the parallel stops and turning, I had a few accidents along the way but overall the trip was brilliant. I had a lot of laughs and created lots of great memories.
“I conquered my fears with the confidenCE boosts I had from my friends, the teachers and instructors. I cannot wait until next year.”
