Spalding schoolchildren go into battle with Celts

Youngsters at Ayscoughfee Hall School in Spalding went back in time to the Roman Empire recently.

Headteacher Clare Ogden says the children had a fantastic opportunity to experience life as citizens of the Roman Empire, learning about the types of medicine and the tools used by the doctors in Ancient Rome.

She said: The children also had the opportunity to learn Latin army commands and formations and took part in a battle between invading Romans and ferocious Celts.”

They then performed an assembly to parents and the school using all the knowledge they had acquired – and impressed everyone with the amount they learned.
