SCHOOLCHILDREN have been learning how to make their own lunch thanks to visitors from Bakkavor.
Product manager Debbie Park and development technologist Daljit Pye from the company’s Spalding site visited Moulton Chapel Primary School for an industry day.
In a series of four workshops for all children from reception to year six, Debbie and Daljit explained how wraps are made on a commercial scale, introduced the children to various raw materials and gave them the chance to taste different products.
Then it was the children’s turn to create their own production line on a much smaller scale.
Administrator Lesley Mackenzie said: “Protective clothing and hairnets caused much hilarity but all participants had to follow hygiene rules and, after washing their hands, all children and staff made and packed their own wrap using the range of healthy ingredients provided.
“Many couldn’t wait to take them home and enjoyed their wrap as part of their snack or lunch.”
