PUPILS from the Spalding Gleed schools have been to London with visiting pupils from Albania.

The Spalding schools – together with Peterborough’s Thomas Deacon Academy – are thought to be the first in the UK to host a trip by Albanian pupils.

Thirty Albaninan visitors, together with staff and youngsters from Spalding, spent Thursday and Friday in London.

Gleed Boys’ deputy head Mandy North said the trip included visits to the Houses of Parliament and ‘We Will Rock You’.

She said: “We also visited the Albanian Embassy and all 70 of us – UK students included – met the Albanian ambassador and had photographs taken with everyone.”

The trip was a Youth in Action project sponsored by the British Council and EU.
