Four primary schools battled hard in the regional final of a girls’ cricket competition organised by Agilitas Sports for Sainsbury’s School Games.
Teams from Spalding St John’s, Weston Hills, Baston and Bourne Westfield put on a thrilling display at Spalding Grammar School.
Rupert Gibson, from Agilitas, said: “Baston and Weston Hills both lost to St John’s and Bourne Westfield, which set us up for an exciting finish with Baston and Weston Hills playing for third and fourth places and St John’s and Bourne Westfield in the final.
“Each of the six games was competitive with excellent displays of batting, bowling and fielding.”
Bourne Westfield triumphed, which means the youngsters will represent Lincolnshire South East against the other seven regions of Lincolnshire on June 30. St John’s were runners up, followed by Baston and Weston Hills.
• Ayscoughfee Hall School, from Spalding, won the Y6 mixed cricket and they will represent Lincolnshire South East against the seven other county regions on June 25. Competing against Ayscoughfee were Sutton St James and Edenham.
