Year 11 students at The Deepings School enjoyed a superb presentation by former Arsenal FC and Football Association vice-chairman David Dein yesterday (Wednesday). David spends much of his time speaking in schools and prisons as well as businesses.

The students were treated to anecdotes and football analogies, together with clips from matches and interviews with players and managers from a range of clubs.

David encouraged them to make the most of the skills and knowledge they can obtain whilst at school to help with future careers, to always have a plan and to be the best you can. Another message was to work hard and have vision and courage. Students had opportunities to win a coveted DVD entitled Premier League, A Whole New Ball Game, which is not available for sale. The presentation finished with a Q & A session and one student asked what advice David would give to his 16-year old self – his answer was to never give up and to always want to get better.
