South Holland and the Deepings MP John Hayes has been awarded an honorary fellowship by the Royal Chartered Institute For Further Education.
In a ceremony at Apothecaries Hall in London, John was awarded an honorary fellowship in recognition of his contribution to the Further Education sector.
The Chairman of the Institution, the Rt Hon The Lord Lingfield Kt DL, described it as “an historic occasion”.
He praised John for his “outstanding work championing vocational training and raising the status of further education”.
John said “I am greatly honoured by the fellowship that the Institute of Further Education has bestowed upon me, and delighted to be the first ever person to be made a fellow by the institute.
“When I was the Skills Minister I was determined to elevate the profile and standing of vocational, technical and practical learning, that which is so vital to our nation’s future.”
