One of the last acts of the Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition government was to set out the standards for learning applicable to children up to the age of five.
In its Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), published in March 2014, the Department for Education said: “Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential.
We are proud to sponsor the Pre-School of the Year Award as this can only assist in giving all involved a little boost and recognition for their hard work and dedication to the community.Ashley King, owner and managing director of Ashwood Homes
“Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and (the) age (of) five have a major impact on their future life chances.
“A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right and (both) good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.”
The Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian, together with award sponsors Ashwood Homes of Holbeach, are looking for the best pre-school or playgroup across South Holland, Bourne, the Deepings and villages south of Boston.
Ashwood Homes has been active in the residentiial property market for more than 25 years, providing employment through existing and prospective housing developments in Crowland, Cowbit, Holbeach, Spalding and Swineshead.
Ashley King, owner and managing director of Ashwood Homes, said: “We are very pleased to support the Free Press and Guardian Education Awards which are held each year.
“Ashwood Homes is also proud to sponsor the Pre-School of the Year Award as both this and the event can only assist in giving all involved a little boost and recognition for their hard work and dedication to the community.”
Quality, consistency, security, partnership working, equality of opportunity, safeguarding and welfare are all hallmarks of an exceptional pre-school or playgroup, according to the EYFS framework.
So if you know of a pre-school and/or playgroup that has these virtues, then now is the time to nominate them.
There are just two weeks left for nominations to be in for the 2015 Education Awards open to schools in South Holland, Bourne, the Deepings and villages south of Boston.
