Young people from schools in South Holland were presented with their Duke of Edinburgh awards after heaps of hard work and determination.

Over 100 youngsters from Spalding Grammar School, Spalding High School, University Holbeach and Spalding Open Award Group had achieved the award, and many of them were at the presentation.

Awards were presented by Adam Turner who works for Cotswold Outdoor and completed his gold award expeditions in 2010. Adam, who now tests out mountaineering gear, and has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, was able to give the award winners an inspirational talk at the presentation at Spalding High School.

Overall, six youngsters achieved their gold award. They were presented with badges but will soon visit St James’s Palace to receive their certificates. 19 won silver and over 100 won bronze.
