COUNTY education bosses have promised that children’s centres will not face closure as the result of budget cuts.

The news should mean that centres in Spalding, Holbeach, Sutton Bridge, Sutterton, Deeping St Nicholas and Bourne will not be forced to close after parents expressed concern that Lincolnshire County Council budget cuts would impact on them.

Coun Patricia Bradwell, executive councillor for children’s services, said: “We are committed to the provision of children’s centres across the county.

“The centres give communities a real boost and provide services all the year round for young people and their families, ensuring youngsters have the best possible start in life.”

The centres offer a wide range of facilities for children under five including community rooms, adult training sessions and the use of kitchens. Partnerships with other service providers also provide activities for children as well as help and guidance for adults.
