Students at Thomas Cowley High School in Donington put on a purr-fect production of the musical Cats. A great deal of hard work was put in by 33 strong cast and staff to bring the production to the stage, but it was well worth it to hear the appreciation of the packed audiences over the three nights that it was performed. Headteacher Mr Martyn Taylor said: “The packed audiences were wowed by the sheer professionalism of the whole production. The energy, commitment and talent of the whole ensemble made me proud to be the headteacher of this wonderful school.” This year six of the regular performers have left school, one of whom, Eleanor Stott, will be going on to Stageworks Theatre School in Huntingdon. However, nine up and coming, new, talented students joined the cast and all gave excellent performances, particularly Lydia Halsackda, who played Buster Jones. Hollie Arnold’s portrayal of Grizabella was so moving that it brought tears to the eyes of many of the audience.
