Spalding High School's Prefects win Contribution to the Community Award

The actions of a selfless group of teenagers to support their community has been honoured.

The sixth form Prefect Team at Spalding High School, including Georgie Van Dyke, Lucy Carter, Henry Wright and Lucy Blackbourn, were presented with the Contribution to the Community Award.

The group has championed community spirit by promoting the Bring a Tin Day initiative in aid of the Agape Care Food Bank.

They collected 2,044 items which they were happy to deliver. The tight-knit team also organised posters, letters and lists of suitable items.

Lucy Carter said: "The reason why we got involved is that it is something we are passionate about."

Georgie has thanked the high school staff for their support with the collection.

She said: "We had the best time working together."

The award was presented by Mo Allam and Millie Gent from Bakkavor.

Mr Allam said: "It was a very hard decision to make."

The runner-up in this category was Bryn Chappell, who had served St Bartholomew's Primary School in West Pinchbeck for many years.

He has held the roles of vice-chairman and chairman of the governors.

Mr Chappell had also served the community as a local councillor.
