Spalding firm's 85th birthday eco pledge

By Spalding Reporter

Top 200 law firm Roythornes Solicitors has pledged to celebrate its 85th anniversary by completing 85 ‘green acts’ within the next 12 months.

The firm, which was founded in 1934, has grown significantly to offer services from offices in Nottingham, Alconbury, and Peterborough alongside its Spalding head office.

Its commitment to celebrate its 85th year by focusing on sustainability and carbon footprint follows an already impressive track-record.

Roythornes has been part of the Environment scheme since 2013 and now has a ten-strong ‘green team’ of volunteers from across the business, representing each of its offices.

Earlier in the year, Roythornes received the Great Green Star at the annual Investors in the Environment Awards for the third year running.

The title recognises the company’s efforts to go above and beyond the requirements of the Investors in the Environment accreditation through initiatives such as helping departments to work on a ‘paper-lite’ basis, switching to LED lighting, and replacing plastic milk bottles for glass which have ultimately reduced their carbon footprint by a huge 41.9 per cent over five years.

As part of the on-going celebrations, Roythornes has also provided each member of staff with a reusable travel cup made entirely of recycled paper cups.
