Dog owners gave their pets centre stage at Highfield Kennels in Pinchbeck which staged its first-ever dog show and fun day on Sunday.

Kennels owner Marlene Aspden welcomed regulars and newer dogs with their handlers to the family-run business which opened in 1991.

Canines carried off the honours in a number of categories, while a raffle, tombola, cake, book, gift and discount fashion stalls all helped in raising £1,680 for Norfolk-based rescue and rehoming charity, Snetterton Dog's Trust.

Marlene said: "We had a good day and couldn't have wished for a better turnout.

"We were running out of parking spaces at one stage and all the kennels staff, volunteers and traders were all tired after the show.

"People who have known me for a number of years know that we put on a decent event.

"But because I've been involved in rescuing dogs for over 40 years, I wanted to support a charity that does a really good job and needs the money."

Snetterton Dog's Trust itself was represented at the dog show by supporter relations officer Paige Langton who said: "Highfield Kennels has always supported our charity and has raised thousands of pounds for us over the years.

"So it was the least I could to come down and support the dog show and fun day."
