CROWLAND Wildlife Group is presenting a talk by Nicola Simpson, Great Fen Interpretation Community Officer at the library at 7.30pm tomorrow. The Great Fen Project is only 20 miles away from Crowland and Nicola will show us how wildlife will be introduced to the area. Admission £2, members free.

THE Royal British Legion Club AGMe will be held in the club lounge tomorrow at 7.45pm.

GOSBERTON St Peter and St Paul’s Church is looking for helpers in for the 2013 flower and craft festival. It runs from Saturday, April 27 to Monday, May 6. Some of the displays have been taken but the committee would welcome anyone who is prepared to help with the arrangements. Also volunteers are required with stewardship and the running of the bric-a-brac and plant stalls. The shifts are from 9.30am-noon, from noon-2.30pm and from 2.30pm-5pm. Then, before the festival opens, volunteers are needed to erect large festival signs on the roadside and there are also about a dozen small wooden signs to go on telegraph poles Two people are needed for this job, they would need a car and a hammer.

THERE is a Christingle service at the Gosberton St Peter and St Paul’s Church on Sunday, December 9, at 3pm.

THERE will be a fun and fellowship afternoon at Gosberton Baptist Church on Friday, 2pm-4pm with games and refreshments.

A SMALL surplus of cash is available from the Moses Trust. Those eligible are single pensioners, widows and widowers residing in the Gosberton village ward only. Applications stating qualifications must be in writing only by December 31 to Mrs Coleen Sheppard,29 Rutland Gardens, Gosberton. This will not be a recurring distribution.

GOSBERTON Relief in Need Charity Christmas gifts will be given out in the Gosberton Public Hall on Thursday, December 6, 10.30am-1pm and also at the Clough and Risegate church hall, 2pm-3.30pm. All persons receiving the old age pension and living in Gosberton and the Clough and Risegate parishes will qualify. Representatives may collect for anyone unable to attend but pension proof must be produced. These gifts must be collected between these hours, no exceptions will be made.

AS a thank you to those who support the Gosberton Baptist film shows, the group is putting on a Christmas party on Monday, December 3, at 2pm. There will be entertainment by the U3A singers and a Christmas buffet.

CHILDREN from the Gosberton Clough and Risegate Primary School are looking forward to a visit to the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk at the Spalding South Holland Centre on Wednesday, December 19.


ALL Saints’ Church Christmas bazaar is on Saturday, 10am-noon, in the church. There will be a variety of games, stalls and raffles. Refreshments available.

HOLBEACH and East Elloe Hospital League of Friends holds its AGM on Monday, December 3, at 2.30pm at Holbeach Hospital. All welcome.

SCHOOL news: The children at Holbeach Bank have been busy raising money for various causes: £72 was raised from the cake sale to go towards bulbs for the school garden; £9.63 was raised for the British Legion Poppy Appeal and £66 was raised on Friday for Children in Need. Thanks to everybody for all their efforts. The West Midlands Theatre Group visited on Friday afternoon and some of the children are now busy rehearsing for their Christmas play. The choir will be performing at Holbeach Community Centre on Saturday, December 8 during the Christmas fair which runs from noon until 3pm and again on Sunday, December 9 at the Holbeach Christmas shopping event at approximately 2pm. There is now a clothing bank situated just inside the school car park. All clothes, shoes, blankets, towels etc gratefully received. All money raised goes towards Eco-schools for their project work. MOULTON Chapel Friendship Club bingo is in the youth and community centre tomorrow at 7.30pm.


TICKETS are still available for the Christmas flower demonstration at Broad Street Methodist Church tomorrow at 7.30pm and arrangements are well in hand for the Christmas Tree Festival and Fayre on December 1. At 3pm next Sunday Rev M Mwailu will be holding a service for anyone going through pain and sadness because of bereavement, family breakdown or other difficulties.

COME along this weekend to St John the Baptist Church and join in the festive fun, by voting for your favourite decorated Christmas trees. This is the eighth year of the competition and the church will be open during the next two weekends, Saturdays noon-4pm and Sundays 1-4pm. Seasonal refreshments will be available to help you get in the Christmas spirit.
