SATURDAY Strollers will be walking at Gedney Drove End on Saturday. Meet at the former St Guthlac School by 10.25am to share transport. Take a picnic lunch.


A ‘SAVE our library’ meeting will be held at the Ruby Hunt Centre tomorrow, 6-8.30pm. Coun Nick Worth has promised to be there and this is a chance for you to make Lincolnshire County Council aware how you feel and that the library needs to stay - if it closes it will mean another empty building in the High Street. Please attend it at all possible.

THERE is an open meeting at the Youth Club today at 7pm. You are invited to go along and see the various activities on offer for the children. The group urgently needs volunteers to help run the club otherwise it will have to close.


FLEET Baptist Ladies meet on Tuesday at 2pm when Nikki Austin of Austin John Interiors will give a talk on fabrics, colours, rooms and soft furnishings. Visitors £2. There will be a bring and buy.

ROYAL British Legion presents an evening with Irish singer, Tom Kennedy, on Saturday, September 21 (7pm) at the Baptist Church. Gedney Hill

GEDNEY Hill and Whaplode Drove Bowls Club will be holding its annual bowls drive and barbecue on Sunday, September 8, at the rear of the Elizabethan Centre, Whaplode Drove; £5 for drive and barbecue, £3.50 for barbecue only. Drive to start at 2.30pm. Everyone is welcome to this event.


VOLUNTEERS are needed to help man the church tower this Saturday during the tower open day at St Peter and St Paul’s.

This is a rare opportunity to see the village and area from above, stretching as far as Boston, the Wolds and Bourne and beyond and to see the contents of the medieval tower. Volunteers are required to help man the tower for safety purposes during the opening times of 10.30am to 4pm. If you can help phone 01775 840694.

GOSBERTON Youth Club is well attended with new young people coming in. The club is looking for more adult volunteers including parents of potential members who would go on a rota from time to time on a Friday evening. PARISH Council will meet at the Public Hall on Monday, September 30, at 7.30pm.

GOSBERTON Rainbow Playgroup return after a summer break on Monday when new children from the ages of two to five years will be welcomed.

COLIN and Carol Pearson,of Algarkirk, had a successful open garden afternoon on Saturday, raising £300. The proceeds will be equally divided between the Gosberton Baptist Church, the Agape Food Bank at Spalding and Cancer Research UK. Mrs Pearson thanks the helpers and all who supported the event by attending which attributed to its success.

GOSBERTON Ladies Circle resumes on Thursday, September 12, following a summer break. The meeting which is ‘First aid made fun’ is in the Methodist Church at 7.30pm.

Gosberton Clough and Risegate

GOSBERTON Clough Centenary Methodist Church celebrates its harvest festival this weekend, beginning on Sunday with a service at 2.30pm including items by Graham’s singers. The service is followed by a harvest tea. The harvest continues on Monday at 7.15pm with a harvest supper and the sale of produce. All proceeds for the Methodist Church.

MOBILE library will be in Gosberton Risegate on Thursday, September 5, at the Five Bells at 1pm until 1.30pm.


A MEGA bingo will be held in the WI Hall, Park Road, on Saturday, September 21, in aid of the Air Ambulance. Doors open at 1pm for eyes down at 2pm.

PROBUS Club of Spalding meets next Wednesday at South Holland Centre , 12.15pm for 12.45pm sitting. The speaker will be John Ambrose and his subject is ‘Tax care and toy boys’. Stewards will be Gerald Horner and Bryan Daff.

SPALDING and District Flower Lovers Club meets at the Grammar School next Wednesday at 7.15pm with Jacquie Aldous as demonstrator, visitors welcome.

BINGO will be played at St Paul’s Church Hall, Fulney, on Monday at 7.30pm.

WESTON Parish Council meets on Monday at 7.30pm in the village hall. A 15 minute public forum will be held.

VILLAGE Hall Committee meet on Tuesday, September 10 at 8pm in the village hall.
