MONDAY evening walk will be at Nene Terrace if it is not too overgrown. Please meet at the former St Guthlac School by 6.25pm to share transport.

WASTE freighters will be at the groundsmen’s shed, Snowden Field, on Saturday, 8-11am. One takes household waste and the other green waste for composting (no plastic bags please).

CROWLAND Town Society will meet on Tuesday when they will visit Chain Bridge Forge, in Spalding. Please contact Libby Jackson 01733 211611 for further details and transport arrangements.


THE Ruby Hunt Centre horticultural show is this Saturday. If you still have an entry to submit please have it at the centre by noon tomorrow. All entries must be at the centre by 9.45am Saturday and will be open to the public from noon. Refreshments will be available.


NEW people are always welcome to join the 49 club which is run by Janet Young in connection with St Peter and St Paul’s Church. It is based on the Saturday Lotto and each member has a number and pays £1 per week. The number that is drawn as the bonus ball on a Saturday wins £25. Payments can be made weekly, monthly or annually. If a number is not subscribed and it wins then the money goes in to church funds.

ST Peter and St Paul’s Church usually has a lunch following its harvest service, but in order to do so this year it requires volunteers to prepare the meal. The harvest festival takes place on Sunday, September 22, with a service at 11am. Anyone willing to organise this please contact the vicarage on 01775 840694.

GEOFF and Debbie Reynolds are looking for volunteers to look after the bookings etc for Gosberton Church Hall while they are on holiday. It would only be a couple of times a year. For more information contact 01775 841585.

MOBILE library will be in Gosberton on Friday, August 23, Field Close 10-11am and Godfrey Avenue 11.05am-noon.

Gosberton Clough and Risegate

BATEMANS auctioneers and valuers will be at St Gilbert and St Hugh’s Church Hall this Saturday to value your items. Booking for valuation is with Barbara Berridge on 01775 714918 at £3 (Friends of St Gilbert and St Hugh £1.50) and tickets for entry only are £1. Refreshments available.

Long Sutton

ROYAL British Legion women’s section has a cake stall and raffle from 9am to 11.45am tomorrow, in St Mary’s Church Hall, West Street. On Tuesday members will have lunch at the Tydd Gote Inn at 12.30pm.


ST Nicholas Church is holding a barbecue in the church grounds on Saturday at 6.30pm. The cost is £5 and there will be a raffle. All proceeds will go to the flower festival due to be held over the August bank holiday weekend. All are welcome and tickets are available from church members or at the door.


DAVID Lobban, one of the organists at Blackpool Tower, will be playing the cinema organs at the Burtey Fen Collection on Sunday, August 18, at 2.30pm.

Weston Hills

A QUIZ night is being held tomorrow for church funds in the village hall. Tickets are £4 each from U Prescott on 01775 766907. There will be light refreshments and a raffle.

MOBILE library will be in the village hall car park next Wednesday.

BINGO is at 7pm in the village hall this Saturday.
