District News: Bourne to West Pinchbeck

IF you have heart problems or care for someone who does Bourne and District Heart Support Group could help. It is a small, friendly group which meets monthly on the second Thursday at 7pm at the Cedars Nursing Home, Church Walk, Bourne (near the Abbey church). Come and join us for a social evening with refreshments, raffle and interesting speakers in a comfortable atmosphere. The next meeting is March 14. NETWORK group meets on the first Thursday of the month at 2.30pm in the chapel for friendship, fellowship and caring, plus handicrafts.

CROWLAND Cares’ next Coffee Morning is on Friday, from 10am to noon in the library. There will be tombola and a stall from Chocolates for Chocoholics – ideal for Easter. All orders will need to be paid for on the day but will be delivered to your door.

CROWLAND Twinning Association is holding a quiz with a two-course meal on Saturday at 8pm at Holbeach Academy (formerly St Guthlac School). Tickets are £10. Telephone Christine Mayley 01733 212077.

Gedney Dyke
BINGO will take place in the village hall on the following Wednesdays: March 13, 20 and 27. Eyes down 7.30pm. Refreshments are available.

Gedney Hill

GEDNEY Hill Memorial Hall Committee will be holding its annual meeting on Tuesday, March 12 at 8pm in the Memorial Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.


DURING this winter the Gosberton Bowls and Snooker Club has been preparing the bowling green for the spring start to the season. Games have been arranged ready for the new season and new people are welcome, either to play or watch the play. The subscription provides not only for bowls but also for snooker and billiards. The snooker room accommodates two first class full size tables and is centrally heated. New members are welcome to join, for more information contact Staney Cousins on 01775 750096.

LINCOLNSHIRE Police will have a surgery in the Gosberton Church Hall on March 13, from 10am to noon.

GOSBERTON Women’s Institute celebrates its birthday on Tuesday, March 12, at 7.15pm with Irish songs by Nigel and Terri. The competition is for an Irish limerick and there is a bring and buy stall.

GOSBERTON Ladies’ Circle is having a baking competition on Thursday, March 14, at 7.30pm. Members will bake a favourite cake, take it along with the recipe for inclusion in the Ladies Circle recipe book. Proceeds will go for the purchase of a chemotherapy pump for ward 7A at the Pilgrim Hospital, Boston. Admission is £3.

GOSBERTON Church fellowship meeting is on Monday, March 18, at 7.30pm when Terry Grantham will speak on the hospice movement. Members £1 and non members £3.

THE Gosberton Good Companion’s Club next meets on Tuesday, March 12 at 2pm. The club is also having an Easter lunch.

THE annual parish meeting for Gosberton is in the Public Hall on Monday, March 11 at 7.30pm.

MONDAY, March 25, at 2pm is the date of the next film show at Gosberton Baptist Church when films will include some which a member took when in Romania. Admission donation of £2 includes the usual refreshments.

DON’T forget the meeting for street pastors at The Lighthouse Church in Spalding, tonight at 7.30pm.

FAVOURITE hymns with tea is at the Gosberton Methodist Church on Sunday, March 17 at 4pm.

Gosberton Clough and Risegate

THE annual Lincolnshire evening at the Gosberton Clough and Risegate St Gilbert and St Hugh’s Church is on Friday at 7pm in the church hall. Speaker Judith Withyman will talk about her recently published book on Life in a Fenland Village in the 15th and 16th centuries. GRAHAM Haresign and friends are putting on a concert in the Gosberton Clough Methodist Church on Saturday, March 16 at 7pm. It will be followed by a supper.

NOSTALGIA music fans will be rocking and rolling away in the Function Suite of the United Services Club Church Street, Holbeach on Saturday when once again it’s a Golden Oldies Disco Nite for over 18s with music from the Nick Grattan Treble Nine Road show. Fancy dress is optional to cover the 1960s, 70s and 80s eras with prizes for the best turned out costume of the decade represented. Admission is free to members with £2 for non-members, doors open at 7.30pm and the event runs till late and further details can be obtained form the club on 01406 423134.

HOLBEACH Town Band’s next monthly bingo is at the WI Hall, Holbeach on Friday. Eyes down at 7.30pm.

MEGA bingo takes place at the WI Hall, Park Road, Holbeach, on Saturday. Doors 1pm, eyes down 2pm.

Holbeach Seniors’ Link

THE next meeting of Holbeach Seniors’ Link will take place on Wednesday, March 27 at 2pm at the Victory Hall, Gedney.

Holbeach St Johns

PINCHBECK Photographic Group presents Land of Enchantment by Chris Smith, a colour slide talk on New Mexico and Arizona.
