Crowland Cares’ next coffee morning will be held on Friday, June 13, 10am-noon in the library. There will be a raffle, tombola and a cake stall. Donington’s first scarecrow festival is this Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4pm. Pick up a scarecrow trail map at the Ruby Hunt Centre on both days for a leisurely walk around the village, to see the many scarecrows on show. A small prize will be awarded for the ones you think will be the best first, second and third. Simply return your entry to the centre to be in with a chance. Refreshments and cakes available at the Ruby Hunt Centre.
Ten gardens will be open gardens in the village on July 6, 11am-5pm. Cream teas will be available. Tickets will be available on the Market Place. Adults £3.50, accompanying children free.
Gedney Drove End
Monthly bingo takes place in the village hall tomorrow. Doors open at 6.30pm with eyes down at 7.30pm.
Cake stall for the benefit of Christ Church, Dawsmere, will take place at the forecourt of Geck and Hilary Bills’ Farm Shop, Gedney Marsh, on Saturday, June 14, 10am to 1pm. Donations of cakes would be appreciated and can be given to either Mary Bills or Mary Vaughan.
The Baptist film show group is having an outing to Gooderstone Water Gardens, near Swaffham, on Saturday, July 5. Cost is £17 inclusive of entry. The picturesque gardens include four ponds, natural trout stream, waterways, 13 bridges, lots of seats, plant sales, mature trees and shrubs, colourful borders, nature trail, bird/kingfisher hide, flat grassy paths, tea room and also a picnic area in the gardens. Pick ups are Donington, Quadring, Gosberton, Surfleet, Pinchbeck, Spalding. Anyone interested in joining the party is asked to phone 01775 840185.
Gosberton Ladies Circle annual meeting takes place in the Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 11 at 7.30pm.
Lincolnshire Police are in the church hall on Wednesday, June 11, for a surgery between 10am and 11am.
A coach party of members and friends of the Good Companion’s Club enjoyed an outing to Great Yarmouth on Wednesday. Although it rained hard as the party left Gosberton, it was fine during their time in Yarmouth and all enjoyed the day. The outing was organised by Les White.
Gosberton Clough and Risegate
Friends of St Gilbert and St Hugh’s Church are looking for more members. People who have been connected with the church through marriage, Christening or even those who are just interested in keeping the church and hall in a good state of repair are invited to join. The church is still looking for photographs of the village, old and new – activities at the church or in the village. HERE-4-U meets on Monday at the Women’s Institute Hall, Park Road, from 10 am to hear about ‘All about me’. Trudy entertains from 2pm. Free admission, tea, coffee. Dementia carers especially welcome.
LADIES Group members will meet at the home of Julie Turner, 78 Lutton Marsh on Thursday at 2pm to visit her garden and enjoy a social afternoon. This is in place of the meeting which normally takes place at the Methodist Chapel. The group will be having a cake stall at St Mary’s Church Hall, Long Sutton on Friday, June 13, 9am to noon. Please give donated cakes to either Brenda Putterill, Jasmine Coe or take them on the day to the hall.
METHODIST Church Craft Club meets tomorrow, 10am-noon in the church.
By popular demand the Methodist Church members are pleased to announce a return visit of the 1960s international recording star Ricky Valance, for a musical evening on Friday, July 11, 7.30pm. His previous visit was extremely popular, playing to an appreciative capacity audience. Due to it being a popular event, admission will be by pre-paid ticket. The League of Friends of Johnson Community Hospital’s diamond jubilee celebration summer fayre is on Saturday, 2-4pm, in the hospital grounds.
A games afternoon is being held on the first and third Monday of the month in the village hall, 2-4pm. Entry is £1 and refreshments are available. Take along your own game of choice or try something new.
