From Crowland to Whaplode


WESLEY’S Wayfayrers meet at the Methodist Chapel on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 11am for an hour of peace and reflection.


DONINGTON fireworks display is on Monday at 6pm at the community centre. Entry is £4 per adult, children free. Bar available. No parking.

ON Sunday at 6pm at St Mary and the Holy Rood Church an All Souls’ Service will take place. Names to be remembered can be given before the start of the service.

EVERY Saturday at 9.30am a service of Morning Prayer will take place at St Mary and the Holy Rood Church with coffee after. The Sunday Service this week will be at 10.30am at Bicker.

TICKETS are on sale for the music evening on Friday, November 8, at the church hall. Nigel Creasey will be providing the entertainment. Phone Carol on 01775 820248 for tickets (£5 including ploughmans supper, BYO drink, glasses will be provided).

BINGO at the Ruby Hunt Centre tomorrow at 7.30pm.

FLEET and District Royal British Legion has a short Remembrance Service on Sunday, November 10, at the memorial at 2pm followed by a service at 2.30pm at the Baptist Church.

Gedney Hill

THE harvest supper, in the Memorial Hall, made £764. It was organised by members and friends of Holy Trinity Church and St Polycarp’s Church. Thanks go to Bill Congreve (auctioneer) and everyone who contributed.


DON’T forget Gosberton House Care Home’s autumn fair on Saturday, 2.30-4.30pm.

ST Peter and St Paul’s Church is having an All Soul’s Service on Sunday at 4pm.

VOLUNTEERS are required for a church yard clear up at the St Peter and St Paul’s Church on Saturday from 9am onwards. Refreshments will be available.

THE harvest lunch at St Peter and St Paul’s Church raised £230 for church funds.

GOSBERTON Churches Together, and the local schools, are again doing Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Appeal. Last year a total of 148 shoe boxes went to children in Swaziland and it is hoped to increase the amount this year. For more information contact Julie Smith on 01775 821744. Leaflets are available in all of the churches and schools and boxes need to be in before November 18 to either Julie Smith or the Gosberton vicarage.

PARISH Council meets in the Public Hall on Monday at 7.30pm.

MOBILE library will be in Gosberton tomorrow. Field Close, 10-11am and Godfrey Avenue, 11.05am-noon.

Gosberton Clough and Risegate

MESSY Church at the Clough Methodist tomorrow is at 3.30pm for crafts, food and fellowship. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

THE post office is in the church hall on Mondays and Thursdays, 2-4pm. Sweets and toiletries are also available. On a Thursday coffee is served at St Gilbert and St Hugh during this time and all are welcome to go along for a chat.

MOBILE library will be in the Risegate today at the Five Bells, 1-1.30pm.


ALL Soul’s Service at All Saints’ Church on Sunday at 4pm is to celebrate and remember those departed with the opportunity to light a candle in their memory. Everyone is welcome to add names , to be read out in the service, to the list at the back of church in advance.

HOLBEACH Town Band’s next monthly bingo is at the WI Hall, Park Road, on Friday, November 8. Eyes down at 7.30pm.


Christmas raffle tickets are now on sale at Moulton Mill to win a luxury hamper worth over £100. Tickets £1 each. The raffle will be drawn on Sunday, December 15. Proceeds to the Mill Restoration Fund.

A mixed palettes art exhibition is being held on Saturday and Sunday, November 9 and 10, 10am-4pm at Moulton Mill.


BINGO will be held at St Paul’s Church Hall, Fulney, on Monday, at 7.30pm.

BROAD Street Methodist Church is holding a coffee morning and snack lunches on Saturday, 10am-1pm. The Midweekers Group meets at 7.30pm on Wednesday, when the speaker will be Helen Valitkevicius on pets as therapy. Ladies of all ages welcome. Saturday, November 9, is curry night at the church with an alternative main course for non-curry eaters, and a selection of delicious desserts. Tickets are £10 from 01775 762284.


THE Memorial Service on Sunday is at 4pm and not 4.30pm. The Act of Remembrance on Sunday, November 10 is at 10.50am and not 11.50am. Both times were incorrectly reported following wrong information supplied.

West Pinchbeck

FIREWORKS at the village hall on Tuesday. Bonfire will be lit at 6pm and fireworks start at 6.30pm. Bring your own fireworks and hand them to the organisers. There will be a barbecue, mulled wine, tea and coffee, cakes, Glo Sticks, etc and a raffle. Music from Paul Andrew. Proceeds to village hall funds.

ST Bartholomew’s PTFA will be holding a bingo with a difference on Friday, November 8. Prizes will be mystery bottles. Doors open at 6.30pm, with eyes down at 7pm.

A memorial service is being held on Sunday at 10.30am at St Bartholomew’s Church and anyone who has been bereaved is welcome to attend. If you would like the names of the departed read out during the service contact Wendy on 01775 640296.

ANNUAL meeting of Whaplode Playing Field Association will be held on Thursday, November 7, at 7pm, in the Heraldic Suite at Whaplode Church.
