From Bourne to West Pinchbeck


BOURNE United Reformed Church coffee morning will be held in the schoolroom this Saturday, 10-11.30am with the usual attractions plus refreshments.


WESLEY’s Wayfayrers meet at the Methodist Chapel on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 11am for an hour of peace and reflection.

MONTHLY bingo will take place at the village hall tomorrow. Doors open at 6.45pm with eyes down at 7.30pm.


LINCOLNSHIRE Churches Trust has an art exhibition in St Peter and St Paul’s Church from Monday, June 10 to Saturday, June 15, 10am-4pm except on Monday when viewings start at 1pm. This promises to be a lovely exhibition of paintings by Lincolnshire artists of churches in the county. Most paintings are for sale. Refreshments available. Volunteers are required to man the church during the exhibition. Donations for refreshments will go towards the upkeep of the church

GOSBERTON Baptist film show group is having an outing to Barnsdale Gardens in Rutland on July 3. There are currently some spare seats on the coach. Anyone wishing to join the party is asked to phone 01775 840185.

CRAFT sellers will be interested to learn that the idea of having a craft market in St Peter and St Paul’s Church is being explored. It is hoped it will be held on Saturdays 10.30am to 3.30pm in June, July and August, to be confirmed. Anyone interested in holding a stall is asked to contact 01775 840694.

WITHIN the Gosberton group of churches is Quadring St Margaret’s and there will be a concert at the church on June 19 (8pm) given by Eric Wayman and Cantemus. The concert lasts about 80 minutes. Admission is free but there is a retiring collection. Proceeds towards the upkeep of the church.

MOBILE library is in Gosberton on June 14, Field Close, 10-11am and Godfrey Avenue, 11.05am-noon.

THE British Heart Foundation has sent out a letter to Gosberton village appealing for donations and also volunteers. It is urging residents to donate unwanted good quality clothing, handbags, shoes, books, DVDs and household goods. The Boston BHF shop has volunteering opportunities to suit everyone, including stock sorting and pricing, window dressing, sales assistant, books and music volunteer and much more. Anyone interested is asked to phone 01205 366056.

GOSBERTON Brownies now meet on a Tuesday evenings, 6.15-7.45pm in the church hall. For further information contact Carol Patey on 01775 840959.

LINCOLNSHIRE Police have a surgery in the church hall tomorrow, 10am-noon.

Gosberton Clough and Risegate

GOSBERTON Clough Methodist Church is the venue for the next Messy Church on Friday at 3.30pm. Adults must bring at least one child and children must bring an adult. For more information contact 01775 750525.

THE Risegate Methodist Church has a craft club on a Monday, 7-9pm. £1.50 per session. On a Wednesday keep fit is at 7.15pm and costs £1. The Gosberton Risegate senior citizen’s Silver Link Club meets in the Risegate church on alternative Wednesdays, 2-4pm. Anyone attending these clubs for the first time is asked to contact Sheila Lee on 01775 840836.


AT the annual parochial meeting of All Saints’ Church Margaret Whaley and David Arnold were re-elected as churchwardens. The following will serve on the PCC – Jane Francis (secretary), Ken Hull (treasurer), Joyce Fines, Gill Graper, Sam Hammond, Ann Hector, Judy Kelly, Meg Newey, Chris Penney, George Phillips, Jackie Sheldrake and Dr Andrew Sykes.

Lutton Marsh

LADIES Group members will meet at the Baytree Nurseries Garden Centre restaurant at Weston on Thursday at noon for lunch, instead of the usual meeting. Members are holding a cake stall at St Mary’s Church Hall, Long Sutton, on Friday, June 14 from 9am. Proceeds are for Lutton Marsh Methodist Chapel.


FRIENDS of Moulton Mill annual meeting will take place at the mill on Tuesday, June 25 at 7.30pm.


PINCHBECK Carnival starts this Friday until Sunday. On Friday night a bingo will be held in the marquee on Rotten Row playing field. It opens at 6.30pm with eyes down at 7pm; £1 per book. On Saturday, the parade will start from Wimberley Way at noon arriving at Rotten Row playing field 12.45pm. There will be a fancy dress competition, handicrafts show, children’s rides and games and many stalls. In the arena will be the Shadowquest Dog Display Group, zumba, the Breaston Highlanders, hula-hoops and Spalding School of Dance. In the marquee will be balloon modelling displays and singing by the U3A choir. There will also be a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The ‘Has Pinchbeck Got Talent?’ show will start at 5pm. Entry forms are available from Tulip Radio or Sally Sneath on 01775 640368. On Sunday in the marquee all are welcome at the united church service of worship at 10.30am. Sunday lunch will be served at 12.30pm at a cost of £7 but tickets need to be purchased in advance from Chris Schofield on 01775 680444. You don’t have to have been to the service to attend the lunch.

West Pinchbeck

NEXT meeting of West Pinchbeck Senior Club is tomorrow at 2pm in the village hall and is to be a strawberry tea.
