From Crowland to Whaplode Drove...


SATURDAY Strollers will be walking at Fotheringhay and Woodnewton on March 30. Meet at the former St Guthlac School by 10.25am to share transport and bring a picnic lunch.

CROWLAND Fire Station open day is on Monday, noon-4pm to raise money for the firefighters’ charity.

EASTER Day Service with Holy Communion at Crowland Methodist Church is at 10.30am.


GOSBERTON Churches Together are having a Good Friday March of Witness tomorrow meeting at the Baptist Church at 10.30am, walking round the village behind the cross, and finishing at the parish church of St Peter and St Paul’s for refreshments at about noon. Bishop Howard Weston Smart has prepared booklets based on Stations of the Cross and Gene Waterfall is to supply an amplifier.

TODAY, Maundy Thursday, there is a service of Holy Communion at St Peter and St Paul’s at 7.30pm and a service at 10am on Easter Sunday.

GOSBERTON Baptists have a service of Holy Communion today, Maundy Thursday, at 7pm and Easter Praise at 10.30am on Easter Sunday.

A SERVICE of Holy Communion will take place at the Methodist Church at 10.30am on Easter Sunday.

ON Easter Saturday the Gosberton and District Royal British Legion is having a dance in the Public Hall, 7.30-11.30pm. Dancing is to PAGEO (two keyboards and a female singer). Tickets on the door are £5 and include tea, coffee and biscuits and a raffle. Raffle prizes will be welcome. All welcome to take part in the ballroom, sequence and line dancing or just listen.

MOBILE library will be in Gosberton on Friday, April 5, at Field Close 10am-11am and Godfrey Avenue 11.05am-noon.

THE April meeting of the Women’s Institute is a talk on the history of Doddington Hall and tapestries. The competition is flower of the month and there will be a bring and buy stall. It takes place in the Public Hall on April 9 at 7.15pm. For more information contact Eileen Johnson 01775 750553.

GOSBERTON Ladies Circle celebrates its 50th birthday on Thursday, April 11 at 7.30pm in the Methodist Church.

Gosberton Clough and Risegate

THE Methodist Churches of Gosberton, Gosberton Risegate and Gosberton Clough unite at Gosberton Clough Methodist on Maundy Thursday for a shared meal at 7pm. Service at the Clough Methodist on Easter Sunday is at 10.30am with Holy Communion.

GOSBERTON Risegate Methodist Church service on Easter Sunday at 10.30am will include Holy Communion.

TOMORROW St Gilbert and St Hugh’s has a Service of the Cross at 2pm which is a service of prayers and readings recalling the final hours up to the crucifixion. On Easter Sunday there will be a service of Holy Communion at 6pm.


OASIS Club meets in All Saints’ Church on Saturday for primary school age children to have fun, games, stories, drama and music. There will also be an Easter egg hunt and children will be able to help build an Easter garden and make an Easter basket. For more information phone Gill Graper on 01406 423803.


PINCHBECK Women’s Institute’s 90th birthday dinner, for members only, takes place in the village hall on Monday, April 8. Members should arrive for a group photograph at 6.30pm with dinner following at 7pm. Speaker will be Judy Theobold. The annual coffee morning takes place at the village hall on May 18, 10am- noon. Cakes, crafts, books, games etc. Everyone welcome.


NEXT meeting of the Probus Club of Spalding will be at the South Holland Centre next Wednesday at 12.15pm for 12.45pm.


DEBBIE Miller from the Ancient World Society in Boston (TAWS) will be talking to the Ladybirds Club about “Witchcraft in ancient Mesopotamia” on Tuesday, April 9. Meetings start at 7.30pm and are held in the Fraiser Room next to the church. Visitors welcome, £1 per person includes coffee.

Weston Hills

A PICNIC quiz is being held on Saturday, April 6, in the village hall. Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm. Will Halgarth is hoping to run the London Marathon to raise funds for Marie Curie, please help to raise more by joining in the quiz. Tickets £5 each, teams maximum of six.
