CACTUS AND SUCCULENT SOCIETY
THE Spalding branch of the British Cactus and Succulent Society meet at Moulton Community Centre on Friday, March 15, 7pm, for a talk about Crassula succulents with a digital display. The society meets on the third Friday every month with a programme of interesting talks about the plants, environment and wildlife. Everyone is welcome. Free admission and refreshments.
COWBIT Ladies meet on Wednesday, March 20, in the village hall at 7.30pm. The speaker will be Julian Kirk and the subject will be the work of the Royal British Legion. Visitors welcome.

NETWORK group meet on the first Thursday of the month at 2.30pm in Crowland Methodist Chapel for friendship, fellowship and caring, plus handicrafts.
WALKING for Health group walks every Wednesday from the library. It is free, very sociable and helps to keep you fit. The walk takes about an hour and is about two miles. DO you need to make an essential journey and need transport? Crowland Cares have several volunteer drivers who are part of the South Holland Parish Voluntary Car Scheme available for this service. There is a charge of 35p per mile from and to the driver’s home, with a minimum charge of £4. GOSBERTON and District Royal British Legion is having a dance in the Public Hall on Easter Saturday, March 30 from 7.30pm to 11.30pm. Admission is £5 (pay at the door) and includes tea and biscuits and a raffle. All are invited to go along to dance ballroom, sequence and line to ‘Gene and Dave’s dance’ (PAGEO) with two keyboards and a female vocalist, or to just sit and listen to the music. All proceeds for the Gosberton RBL.

TERRY Grantham will be speaking on the hospice movement at Gosberton Church Fellowship meeting on Monday at 7.30pm. Admission is £1 for members and £3 for non members which includes a raffle and refreshments.

GOSBERTON CLOUGH AND RISEGATE

LONG Sutton Baptist Chapel Girls’ Brigade want you to come and join them for an Easter travel trail on Saturday, March 23, 2-4pm starting from the Baptist Chapel and then round the town. Prizes given for first, second and third places and sweets given to all. All children must be accompanied by an adult or parent. Organised by the Girls’ Brigade as part of a recruiting drive. ST Nicholas Church’s spring fayre is on Saturday in Long Sutton Church Hall, 10am-noon. There will be stalls, raffles and refreshments. Proceeds are for the ongoing maintenance of Lutton Church.
MONTHLY coffee morning at Moulton Chapel Methodist Church will take place this Saturday, 10am-1pm (instead of March 30) and in addition to the usual sale of books, cakes etc, will include the opportunity to have small antiques valued for a small charge. Do come along, bring a friend, check out your antique and enjoy a pleasant cuppa and a friendly chat.
THE family disco, when the Pinchbeck Carnival Queen and supporting members of the ‘royal family’ for 2013 will be chosen, is on Friday, March 22, 7pm-10.30pm in the village hall. Categories are carnival queen (secondary school age), princess (primary school, aged 9-11), prince/princess (primary school, aged six-eight).
To enter the competition you must either live, go to school or belong to an organisation in Pinchbeck or Pinchbeck West. Disco tickets cost £2 for adults, £1.50 for children under 16, and are available from Jane Amess (01775 769729) or Bridget Scase (01775 760118), or can be purchased on the night.
Pinchbeck carnival now has a facebook page so you can keep up to date with what’s happening. Have a look and tell all your friends. Booking forms and the craft schedule will be out shortly. Meanwhile, don’t forget, the theme this year is numbers.
EASTER bingo, organised by June Taylor for Macmillan Cancer Support, will be held in Holbeach Community Centre on Friday. Doors open 6pm for eyes down at 7pm. Prizes include cash and there will be a cake stall, raffle and refreshments available.
SOUTH LINCS ASTRONOMICAL AND GEOPHYSICAL SOCIETY
ON Friday South Lincolnshire Astronomical and Geophysical Society will be hosting a talk by Dr Konstantin Stefanov on sky cinematography with the large synoptic survey telescope. This will be in the lecture theatre at Spalding Grammar School starting at 7.30pm. More information is available on www.solags.co.uk
THE first meeting of Whaplode Coffee Pot Club, after refurbishment of the village hall, takes place on Wednesday, March 20, 9.30-11am at Whaplode Village Hall.
