From Crowland to Spalding...


CROWLAND Charity Trustees’ annual distribution is on Saturday, 9am-11am, at The Pavilion, Thorney Road. Take your pension book or other identification. Recipients must be on the Crowland electoral register from February 2007, aged 70 plus, registered blind, a widow aged 60 plus or at the discretion of the trustees.

CROWLAND Cancer Fund Christmas raffle has raised £1,912.00. Prizes included a television, three days’ labour painting and decorating, hamper, fruit, wine and a grill.

CROWLAND Cares help desk in the Crowland Library will close at 12.30pm tomorrow and re-open on Wednesday, January 2.

SERVICES at Crowland Abbey on Monday are 6pm Crib Service; 7.30pm Nine Lessons and Carols by Candlelight; 11.30pm Holy Communion by Candlelight. On Christmas Day there is Holy Communion at 7.45am and 11am.

CROWLAND Methodist Church service are Sunday, 10.30am carol service; Monday 6pm Holy Communion candlelit service; Christmas Day 9.30am service with Rev Heather Walker.

JOIN Churches Together in Crowland for carols under the bridge at 5pm on Christmas Eve.


BICKER St Swithun’s Church Christmas morning service is at 9.30am, not 8am as previously advertised.


The PCC of St Mary Magdalene Church would like to thank everyone who attended the two-day Christmas Tree Festival and the helpers who worked tirelessly raising around £500 for church funds. Thanks to David Sizer for taking the carol service which concluded the festival and to our readers. It was lovely to see the church decorated for this festive time and for the many compliments made by visitors to our church.

Gedney Drove End

CAROL service takes place at Christ Church, Dawsmere on Christmas Eve at 3pm. Joint Holy Communion will be held at St Nicholas Church, Lutton on Christmas morning.


THE New Year Eve’s dance planned to take place in the Gosberton Public has been cancelled.

ON Sunday St Peter and St Paul’s Church has a carol service at 10am, the Baptist Church on Spalding Road, still decorated with Christmas trees, has a carol service at 10.30am, and the Methodist Church in Salem Street has a carol service at 6pm.

ON Christmas Eve there will be a family Nativity service at 4pm at St Peter and St Paul’s Church and then at 11.30pm there is a joint Anglican,Baptist and Methodist communion service.

CHRISTMAS Day for the parish church is a joint service at Gosberton Clough St Gilbert and St Hugh at 9am. The Baptist and Methodist Churches in Gosberton each have a service at 10am.

THERE are a few places left at Gosberton Baptist Christmas Day lunch which is being put on for those who will be alone on Christmas Day and living in the parish of Gosberton. Contact Janet Bullows on 01775 713341

Gosberton Clough and Risegate

GOSBERTON Clough Methodist Church has a carol service on Sunday at 2.30pm. It will be led by Peter Sheilds, of Spalding.

GOSBERTON Clough and Risegate St Gilbert and St Hugh has a service of carols on Sunday at 10am which will include Holy Communion. On Christmas Day Holy Communion is at 9am

ON Sunday the Gosberton Risegate Methodist Church will arrange its own carol service at 10.30am

ON Sunday, December 30 there is a united service for the Methodist churches of Gosberton Risegate, Gosberton and the Clough held at the Gosberton Clough Centenary Methodist Church at 10.30am


ALL Saints’ Church has a fun morning for all children on Saturday at 10am when they can decorate the Christmas tree and rehearse for the Tableaux which takes place at the Crib Service on Christmas Eve at 4pm.

ALSO at the church, December 21 to 23 is Nativity weekend when homemade Nativity scenes can be viewed and mince pies and mulled wine will be served. Entry fee is £1.

ALL Saints’ has a busy programme of services for Christmas including today 9am William Stukeley School service, 11am Holbeach Primary School service and at 7.30pm University Academy Holbeach Christmas concert. Sunday is the town carol service (the traditional Nine Lessons and carols with anthems from All Saints’ Choir) at 6.30pm. Christmas Eve features Midnight Mass at 11.30pm and on Christmas Day the Parish Eucharist is at 10.30am.


BROAD Street Methodist Church is holding its Nativity service at 10.30am on Sunday. At 7pm on Christmas Eve there is a candle light carol service followed by tea, coffee and mince pies. Everyone is welcome to both services.
