From Bicker to Whaplode Drove

EVERYONE is welcome to the Christmas Carol Service in the Methodist Chapel on Sunday December 23, at 6pm.


AFTERNOON tea dance is tomorrow at the British Legion Hall 2-4pm. Tickets £4.50 including tea and raffle. Music by Eric Cloud. Proceeds will go to Sue Ryder, Thorpe Hall in memory of June Cooke.

CHRISTMAS concert at Crowland Abbey on Thursday is at 7pm. The pupils of Holbeach Academy, Crowland site, will present a concert of Christmas carols, songs, readings prayers and poetry. Light refreshments during the interval. Admission by donation.

Deeping St James

The recent Priory Church Coffee Group pre-Advent coffee morning raised £292.35, which will be distributed to local good causes at the spring coffee morning. Treasurer, Margaret Flegg, thanks everyone who helped in any way and supported the event.

Deeping St Nicholas

THERE will be a prize bingo on Thursday at 7pm in the Jubilee Hall.

Dementia Support Group

LPPG Outreach Dementia Support Group’s Christmas party is on Monday at Holbeach Youth Centre, 10am-4pm. Admission is free and there will be refreshments, mince pies, films, music and a draw. FLEET Baptist Church family carol service is on Sunday at 3pm. Seasonal refreshments will follow.


LINCOLNSHIRE Police have a surgery in the church hall tomorrow, between 10am and noon.

GOSBERTON Church fellowship meets in the church hall on Monday at 7.30pm. There will be a raffle, bring and buy and refreshments, £1 for members and £3 for non members. For more information phone Pat Walters on 01775 840694.

ST Peter and St Paul’s Church is grateful to Stuart Moore in replacing damaged and cracked footings and surrounding stonework around the outside of the church. Thanks too to others who have assisted him and to Mr Hilary Burt for clearing away the vegetation, including the damaging roots round the church.

THERE will be no meeting of the Gosberton Ladies this month, the group will resume on Thursday, January 10, when the topic will be decoupatch with Angela Nicholls.

Gosberton Clough and Risegate

Gosberton Risegate Methodist Carol Service is on Sunday at 2.30pm.


NEXT meeting of the Probus Club of Spalding will be at the South Holland Centre on Wednesday, January 2. The speaker will be Probian Douglas Best.

Tongue End

DUE to ill health, delivery of the current issue of the Village News has not been possible. The latest issue is currently being held at Pode Hole post office, and anyone requiring a copy is welcome to collect from there. If anyone is willing to help with deliveries in the future, either in Tongue End or Deeping St Nicholas, please contact Sue Titcombe on 01775 630279. This is a free magazine, sponsored and paid for by donations, delivered by residents free of charge.

Whaplode Drove

EVERYONE is welcome at the Carol Service at St John the Baptist Church on Sunday at 6.30pm when certificates, prizes and the engraved plate will be presented to the top three trees voted for by visitors to the church in the recent Christmas tree competition.
