South Holland District Council confirmed today it has had a bid accepted for Moulton Park.
Coun Anthony Casson said: “We have reached an initial agreement with the owner to purchase the land and are currently working on the detail of the contract before we can finalise the purchase.
“We expect this will be concluded by the end of the month. However, until that time we will not be able to make any further comment.”
The park is owned by Holbeach businessman Ashley King and the guide price was £250,000.It is thought the district council has bought it to boost its quota of open space, currently below guidelines.
Moulton Parish Council was interested in buying a small part of the 23-acre park and it is now thought the district council may allocate some of it for a play area.
