A group which provides horse riding for the disabled has been presented with a cheque for £500.

The money was handed to one of the Fenland Group of the Riding for the Disabled Association’s instructors Jane Carter by Dawn Jessop.

The money was part of the proceeds from the South Lincolnshire Show, formerly known as Baston Show, and now held in the grounds of Grimsthorpe Castle every year on the last Saturday in May.

The Fenland Group of the Riding for the Disabled Association was formed in 1981 and over the years many children from Spalding’s Garth and Priory schools have benefitted, both mentally and physically, from the opportunity to learn to ride.

Unlike many RDA groups, the ponies are provided by their willing owners who bring them along every week and there is also a band of volunteers who provide assistance to the riders.
