Spalding area upholstery and interiors company has undertaken work on Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

A Spalding area based upholstery and interiors company is making the most of a boost from post-lockdown house renovations.

Eye4Design, which is based on Cresswell Close off Wardentree Lane, has seen great success over the past year, with many of us swapping sunshine for fabric swatches.

Mark Moore, who runs the business with his wife Eileen, says he’s thankful for such a brilliant year.

He said: “I am so pleased with how well we’ve done. When you think about those poor people who have lost their jobs, we’re thankful that we’ve done well out of it.

“People have saved a lot of money during the past year and a lot of people won’t be going on holiday this year so they have been putting that saved money towards home improvements.

“They’re getting new curtains or painting the walls - changing everything they’ve been staring at during lockdown.

“I think a lot of people have also realised that they can come in and have a chat, get the advice they need and then if there is a problem they can pop in and see us again. You might pay a little bit more but that’s for the service you are getting which you don’t get online plus the high quality.

“We’re in a central location and we don’t farm our work out so people can see it happens under one roof.”

Mark has watched his business grow over time, first starting work as an apprentice at a family run upholsterers in London, where he stayed for 12 years before moving into a company in Brixton which introduced him to theatre work.

After having spent a year working on shows such as Starlight Express and Fiddler on the Roof, Mark set up on his own before moving to South Holland 23 years ago.

Since then, through his great reputation and quality of work, Mark has built up a business offering a one-stop shop for everything you need to spruce up your home.

Mark, who runs the business with his wife Eileen, said: “I fell into this job by chance and I’ve been going for about 35 year now.

“The shop started as an upholsterers and evolved into what it is today. We make bespoke furniture and lampshades plus we have a huge selection of wallpapers, paints and curtains too. Not only do we carry out residential work but we also do contract work. Before lockdown we did the changing rooms for Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium and as the NFL is held there we did the seats for those, plus for the Ryder cup as well - those were really nice projects for us to be involved with.”

Eye4Design offers a multitude of services and products, having recently brought in awnings as another string to its bow.

Mark said: “We are a supplier for about 99 per cent of the brands out there. You’ve got to have a good selection - there’s something here for everyone.”
