Spalding business restore benches for town cemetery

Seating at a cemetery has been given a makeover thanks to the work of a local businessman.

Derek Richardson, who is a director with Andrews & Co in Little London, Spalding, was able to repair and restore six benches at the town’s cemetery.

Mr Richardson had been asked by volunteers from the group to look at a number of benches at the Pinchbeck Road grave yard.

He said: “We stripped the benches back and it was surprising how much good timber was there.

“There was very little rotten timber.

“We have been around here as a business for more than 70 years and we like to help the local community where we can.”

Mr Richardson has also painted the benches blue with permission from the Friends.
