Spalding's proposed NHS dental surgery: work starts to make building ready
A company aiming to launch an “8 to 8”, NHS dental service is already on site in Spalding’s Winsover Road making the building ready.
JDSP Dental Ltd, which previously hoped to open in January this year, has applied for planning consent to change the internal layout of the surgery.
In a letter to South Holland District Council, the Robert Doughty Consultancy say: “The applicant is seeking to meet contractual requirements from the NHS and is already on site undertaking the internal works and installing the air conditioning system.”
JDSP was one of two dental surgeries promised for Spalding at the start of the year but neither one was able to open because they could not recruit enough dentists.
In October NHS England announced JDSP as the preferred bidder for a surgery to launch next March, which is due to open 365 days a year.
It will offer both routine care for patients and urgent care for patients not registered with a dental practice. No preferred bidder has been found for an additional “extended access” service.
Meanwhile a dental surgery at Wyberton is ready to take NHS patients from South Holland.
