Two crashes within one week has prompted further calls for improvements to one stretch of the A17.

Coun Peter Coupland will be meeting with Lincolnshire County Council’s highways officers to look at changes to the Lowgate junction with the A17 at Fleet.

A driver was taken to hospital after two vehicle crash on the A17 a couple of weeks ago and there was also a single vehicle collision in recent weeks too.

Coun Coupland said the Lowgate junction is a pinchpoint and cannot safely cope with the increased traffic.

He said: “Lowgate is the forgotten junction of the A17.

“I am engaging with highways and I have a meeting coming up with them to make them aware of this junction.”

He feels that the junction should be improved as businesses in the area are increasing.

Plans have been submitted by JEPCO to create a hydroponic growing system in Gedney Drove End while agricultural produce store plan has gone in for Fleet.
